The Christian fellowship at the University of Peradeniya is PeraDC. PeraDC has been a thriving Christian community at the University of Peradeniya, growing through the grace of God over the years. While the pandemic posed challenges, including reduced student participation, we are now seeing a revival as more students engage in our programs and activities. By God’s grace, we have witnessed spiritual growth and a renewed commitment to building a strong, Christ-centered fellowship.
Our Mission
Our mission is to foster a community of faith, fellowship, and service. With a focus on quality over quantity, PeraDC strives to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where students can deepen their faith, grow spiritually, and make a difference in the lives of others.
Activities and Programs
Weekly Bible Study
We have established a flexible Bible study schedule to accommodate students’ availability. Bible studies take place twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at various locations across the university. Additionally, hybrid Bible study sessions are offered for those who cannot attend in person. These studies involve meaningful discussions and reflections on God’s Word, with a practical approach to living out our faith in daily life.
Sunday Evening Prayer & Bible Study
Every Sunday, we gather at the University Chapel of Christ the Risen Lord for Bible study and evening prayers, led by Rev. Sanath, the university chaplain. This session is open to both PeraDC students and members of the Campus Crusade in the Peradeniya Christian Students Movement, as well as other Christian youth from Kandy.
Poya Day Programs & Special Discussions
Throughout the year, PeraDC organizes special Poya Day programs, which feature thought-provoking discussions and opportunities for fellowship.
- March: Our first Poya Day program included a movie screening of Risen, followed by a discussion on faith and mental health in the university context.
- June: We hosted a session titled “Perspective: The Rise, Fall & Grace” with Mr. Kolitha Dissanayake, focusing on the consequences of the fall and how we can represent Christ in our universities.
- July: We had an engaging discussion on “Transformative Leadership” with Prof. Amal S. Kumarage, exploring biblical perspectives on leadership.
Graduate and Staff Engagement
PeraDC places a strong emphasis on the involvement of graduates and academic staff in the fellowship. We have held online Bible studies with Dr. Adrian (a former graduate) and sessions with former staff workers, discussing topics like spiritual growth, faith in academic life, and the challenges students face today.
Support and Community Engagement
We also prioritize community engagement and support. In March, we visited the family of a late student, Ms. Vinodi, to offer prayer and support.
Join Us
